The following trips also took place:

Spain 1972.

Way back in the mists of time the club apparently went to Spain. All we know is that they discovered and surveyed “Cueva Blanca” in Asturias, Northern Spain. If you’re reading this and were on the expedition, please let us know more!

France 1994

Lisa's memory of this trip is somewhat hazy, which she is blaming on red wine, but this was apparently a short caving holiday to the Vercors with a small team (Rob Yard, Steve Chalker, John Newstead, Julie Robertson, Tony Brown and Lisa). If anyone can remember anything we did please let us know...

Mystery Trip Abroad 1999

This was a Durham & Reading joint trip and we are unable to disclose the destination. Talk to Lisa M, Tom F or Jon Maj if you want to know more.

Thanks:

Lisa Methven for pulling this together

Brian West for his reports, photos and website

Andy Rumming for the Slovenia log book

Chris Szabady for the Slovenia photos

Everyone else on the trips for taking the time to document their experiences

Members from the clubs we met for their kind help and support.

Expeditions

RUCC has a long history of undertaking summer expeditions abroad, and in particular has visited and explored caves in Romania over the years.

This year Reading went to the Hirlatz Hohle in Austria, Matienzo in Spain, and back to Dachstein in Austria exploring the second deepest cave in the region.

This section of the site details all the details we have of our expeditions. Click on a year below to explore further.
